Dear PCD users,
You are registered as
Engiby News reader. To modify your registration please go to www.engiby.ch/news.htm
The Engiby News informs you
about new products available at Engiby, new documents on the Internet site and
actual development activities.
First of all I would like
to welcome all new readers of the Engiby News. I also encourage everybody to
forward this News to any further PCD user.
I assume that your are back
from your holidays an fully resourced to start your new project.
Now, let’s come to the
topics…You will see that we have been working even during this hot summer.
NG-Dump
As you maybe know, the NG-Dump
is a simple software to capture data from a PCD and store it in a file on a
personal computer. A new version is now available with several new
possibilities.
The NG-Dump now can save
the data in MS-Excel files (only CSV till now). In the Excel file, the data can
be organised in row or in columns.
If desired, the data can be overwritten each time in the same cells to show
always the last values.
The NG-Dump can be called
in a single shot mode. In this case, the application is started, the data are
collected and saved in the file, and the application is automatically closed.
This is useful to collect spontaneous data to prepare a report, an invoice or
any document based on instant data.
A Multipoint version is now
available. This version allows to collect and mix data from several PCD
stations.
You can find more details
about the NG-Dump or even load the freeware version at http://www.engiby.ch/ngdump/ngdump.htm.
NG-Data
The NG-Data is a powerful
package for collecting data in a MS-Access database. The data are collected by
the PCD itself (without permanent connection). The data package is then
transmitted to a server via modem.
The NG-Data software,
called Database Handler, now support all PG4 and PG5 drivers (only S-Bus parity
till now). This allows for instance connection to the servers via Ethernet.
The server now supports
several buffers. The server can store several data packages from external
stations even if the Database Handler is not permanently connected.
A Manual Reading function
has been implemented. In manual reading mode, the available data packages are
first listed. The user can then decide to transfer the data to the database, to
clear the data, to save the data in an temporary file or keep the data stored
in the server for future reading.
Automatic Clock setting.
When the Database Handler get the connection to the PCD Server, the clock value
of the PCD is checked and, if the time differ from the PC time, a setting of
the PCD Clock is performed. This feature is specially useful with the manual
reading and when the Site and the Server are on the same PCD.
More
information about the NG-Data are available at http://www.engiby.ch/ngdata/ngdata.htm.
Text
Output Library
This new
library allows you to define formatted text messages, with variables, that will
be send to a serial line on event without writing a single line of PCD code.
The Text
Output Library is a new application for the Engiby Configurator. The
application is realized by filling an Excel file.
This offers
you many advantages like :
- a very good overview of your texts
- a comfortable editing tool (MS-Excel)
- text length formatting by the compilator
- well definable line structure by use of models
- useful pre-formatted texts and variables (PCD Time, PCD Date, Spaces, Marks,
Line jump, etc…)
- inclusion of PCD variables with physical addresses of global symbols,
including format.
- simple way for creating a multi language application (with the compilation
options)
- and more...
Please
contact Engiby for more information.
You can
also download and read the Help file of the Text Output Library at www.engiby.ch/txtout/help.zip
Modbus
TCP Master
The new version of the Modbus
Driver 2 supports now the Master function. A set of Fboxes is available to
define each Slave station to connect and the SEND/RCV messages. Each station is
supervised and is automatically disconnected in case of problem and reconnected
after an adjustable reconnect time. Each station can also be disconnected by
the user program to avoid communication timeout. The driver supports Modbus/TCP
as well as UDP.
Customers with a licence of
a version 1.5x or 1.6x can extend their licence to the Modbus Driver 2
for a special price.
See http://www.engiby.ch/modbus/modpri.htm.

about Modbus TCP, go to http://www.engiby.ch/modbus/tcpfaq.htm.
PG5 1.2
This is to remember you
that the procedure to update and register your driver for PG5 1.2 is described
at http://www.engiby.ch/libreg.htm.
If you have ordered a driver or an update since begin of 2003, ask for a free
update until end of 2003 !
