M-Bus - List of supported devices

On this page a list of M-Bus devices supported by the M-Bus driver can be found. This list is necessary because the M-Bus standard does not ensure that any device can be read with a unique implementation. The procedure to read the device may vary, different data coding is used, the delivered data can be specifically configured and some data coding are even manufacturer specific. Therefore, tests and adaptations might be necessary for some new devices to be supported by the M-Bus driver.

For simple application and standard devices, a set of Standard FBoxes has been created. If a standard FBox is sufficient, no specific implementation is required. For heating see the Generic FBoxes in the M-Bus Heating family. For simple water and gas meters, see the Generic FBoxes in the M-Bus Pulse/Water/Volume family. For electricity meters see the Standard FBoxes in the M-Bus Electricity family. Please refer also to the documents listed at the end of this document.

Note also that some devices from different manufacturers are internally identical. With a device specification Engiby can check if an existing FBox can be used.

The following list shows the devices that have been successfully tested by Engiby or by integrators.

* Devices with pulse inputs can be generally configured as Pulse, Water or Gas counters.
st = Supported with a Standard or Generic Fbox
tu = Tested by user. The device has not been tested by Engiby but a user has reported positive result.
       Some users don't care (don't report) about minor errors like 'Missing value'.
do = Based on documentation.  According to the manufacturer documentation, the device should work.
        We cannot warantee that the provided documents are up to date and match the concerned device.
sa = Included in a free package distributed by Saia-Burgess.

In any cases, changes in the configuration or new firmware version in the device may avoid the reading of some values. This cause usually a 'Missing value' error.

New devices can be tested and implemented on request. At least a documentation describing the M-Bus protocol implementation of the particular device is required.
Depending on complexity, a test device may be required by Engiby. It is important that this device has the definitive configuration.
In many cases, a readout with our tool NG-Mscan2 (see link below) is sufficient.
The implementation is usually done within 2 weeks and the device is returned after positive feedback.
